About Grounds Krewe:

Grounds Krewe is dedicated to creating a more sustainable New Orleans event culture through waste prevention, recycling, and sustainable event products. We strive to make a positive impact on our community by reducing waste and promoting environmentally friendly practices during events.

Position Overview:

Grounds Krewe is seeking a dedicated and organized Operations & Programs Manager to join our team. This crucial role will work closely with the Director and various supporters of the organization to ensure the success of our major programs and initiatives. Responsibilities include logistics, volunteer management, community outreach, and promotion of Grounds Krewe's mission and programs at various events.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sustainable Throw Catalog Management:

    • Oversee the success of the "Sustainable Throw Catalog."

    • Manage relationships with suppliers and improve the current inventory system.

    • Fulfill orders for the carnival season for customer pick-up.

  2. Volunteer Coordination:

    • Work with thousands of volunteers from local schools and companies.

    • Coordinate and ensure the success of volunteer events for the assembly needs of the throw catalog orders.

  3. Product & Supplier Logistics:

    • Identify and engage with local artists and businesses as potential new suppliers.

    • Prototype new sustainable Mardi Gras throws leveraging arts and crafting skills.

  4. Event Recycling Services:

    • Engage with local events, festivals, and parades  throughout the year to provide recycling services.

    • Coordinate and manage recycling efforts during these events.

  5. Outreach & Development:

    • Act as a spokesperson for the organization year-round.

    • Attend and represent Grounds Krewe at various events and opportunities to table, spreading the mission further.

    • Maintain and develop strategies, materials and relationships necessary to provide support and resources for Grounds Krewe.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional Communication: Ability to represent Grounds Krewe effectively to various external organizations in writing and verbally.

  • Highly Organized: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple programs and initiatives. 

  • Community Engagement and Relationship Building: Experience in engaging with volunteers and the community.

  • Entrepreneurship: The drive, persistence, and agility to solve problems creatively. 

  • Strong self-direction and upward management skills: The ability to execute high-quality, timely work independently and without constant supervision and direction. The ability to communicate with Grounds Krewe’s executive director proactively when you need support. 

  • Arts and Crafting Skills: Ability to prototype new products and work with local artists.

  • Event Management: Experience in managing recycling services at events.

Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $50,000 - $62,500 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience. 

  • Paid Time Off: 10 days of PTO during the "high season" (September - April) and an additional 20 days of PTO in the "low season." (June-July)
