I am a NOLA native and former teacher always working to educate my students (and myself) on ways we could be greener in day-to-day life in order to have a more positive effect on the environment. After recently moving back to New Orleans, I've made it a goal to be more proactive about this in my own life and with my own family. With carnival around the corner, I was just talking with friends the other day about how much I love Mardi Gras, but I'm bothered by the amounts of waste and plastic (beads) it produces.
